Greer's focus is the strategic planning of city-shaping projects across New Zealand and around the globe. Her passion for planning and design that better responds to people's needs led her to join the firm in 2018.

My work is primarily strategic, focussing on planning at the regional and city level or undertaken in alignment with significant infrastructure investment. Every day is different, and there is so much diversity in our firm's projects, opportunities, and experiences.
Our collaborative approach to projects is my favourite thing about working for Arup; our value of total architecture is embedded in everything we do. We bring together the right people, thinking, and expertise to solve complex and challenging problems, integrating transport, planning, engineering, design and sustainability. Our employee ownership model recognises the staff's contribution to the firm's success; it's great to feel part of a global community aligned with shared values.

I've been fortunate to work on a wide range of projects in New Zealand and globally. My most memorable project has been working with Sport New Zealand on their Neighbourhood Play Blueprint, which involves thinking strategically about play opportunities for children in our communities. It's been great to talk to children, understand their needs and ideas for their neighbourhoods and help identify and design outcomes to support their physical and cognitive development.
Being part of a global community, I've had the opportunity to work on projects in Australasia and the Americas. Working as part of a global team means you can engage with people worldwide and draw on this collective experience, knowledge and advice to help shape critical projects in New Zealand.
When I'm not working, I like to spend time as much time outdoors as I can. Over the summer months, I try to spend my time out on the water, we've kayaked in the Abel Tasman National Park, and this year will be kayaking in the Marlborough Sounds. I also love Auckland's excellent and diverse food scene. I think that it's always a surprise for people travelling to New Zealand that Auckland's restaurants are so good.
