Independent and interdependent
Our founder, Ove Arup, started an Arup practice in London in 1946. With Ove's pioneering spirit and the hard work of dedicated partners and staff, the one practice grew into many as additional practices joined the Arup fold.
One of those practices developed into the global entity we know today as Arup Group.
In addition, we still have a number of organisationally independent practices in Brunei, Malaysia, Nigeria and Zimbabwe.

Though independent, there is a spirit of collaboration across all of the Arup practices. Our designers, planners, engineers, consultants and technical specialists share knowledge and resources to achieve client outcomes that we wouldn’t otherwise attain.
The independent practices are coordinated by The Arup Partnerships, an organisation managed by a trustee board drawn from Arup’s global leadership.
