What is your role at Arup?
I work as a Transport Planner.
Tell us a bit about your background
I joined Madrid office three years ago, since then I have had the opportunity to work with amazing people from different offices. I am part of the Transport advisory team of Madrid, where I have worked in different projects such as traffic studies, transport assessments, accessibility studies and pedestrian planning analysis.
What attracted you to work at Arup?
The opportunity to be involved in different projects, with great professionals around the world.
What do you enjoy most about your role / why do you love working at Arup?
The possibility to call and ask any question to people working miles away from where you are and receive a kind response of colleagues willing to share their skills. That international network developed in Arup is reflected in the quality of our work and is something that gives a great value to our projects.
“Joining Arup, no matter in which office, is joining a big group of incredible professionals where you can develop your career and countless skills and where, for sure, you will be regarded as a professional. ”
What project(s) have you been most proud to be involved with and why?
Working in the Transport Assessment for Environmental Impact in HS2 - with the final objective of mitigating the construction and operation impacts of the new high-speed line on the road network - has been one of the most important and relevant projects I have been involved with. At the end of the day the benefit of the project for people living around the whole country is so huge that it is difficult to be measured and that is what I work for and what makes me feel very proud and satisfied.
What is your proudest achievement at Arup?
Having the opportunity to work in Campus office in HS2 project, with an STA program for 9 months. I was worried that I would not perform as well in Birmingham as I did in my home office, but since I arrived I realized that Arup values - teamwork, commitment and solidarity, to mention some - are shared throughout the world.
What would you say to someone thinking of joining Arup?
Joining Arup, no matter in which office, is joining a big group of incredible professionals where you can develop your career and countless skills and where, for sure, you will be regarded as a professional and since the first moment you will be involved in the projects as an important part of the team.
What are your future aspirations?
I would really like to continue growing as a professional in Arup and improve my skills as a transport planner to be involved in reference projects that would improve people’s lives.
