Lydia is currently on a placement working in Arup's Buildings Services team based in our Hong Kong office.
What did you study and where?
I am studying medical engineering at the University of Surrey in the UK.
Why did you choose the Arup internship?
I chose Arup as my placement as it gave me an opportunity to work with a well-known firm to gain some general engineering experience and it also gave me a chance to work in Hong Kong.
What do you get up to in your day-to-day role?
I help check and update revit models and help with any miscellaneous tasks such as helping with determining where terminal rods will be placed for lightening protection.
What has been your most enjoyable moment/project so far?
My most enjoyable moment thus far was being able to meet new friends from all different walks of life and to be able to experience what it is like to work within such a global and large organization.

What are your future aspirations?
I hope to be able to gain a graduate role within the engineering industry in London.

Beyond work, have you participated in any social, sports or community activities in the firm? What do you enjoy most?
I have participated in an arts and crafts workshop where I was able make an engraved Chinese seal.
