What did you study and where?
I studied Civil Engineering at Istanbul Technical University for my BSc degree and now I am studying in Transport Engineering for my MSc degree.
Why did you choose the Arup graduate programme?
I was advised by a senior engineer to complete my Internship Trainee with Arup. After finishing my internship trainee, I was hired as a part time internship by Arup. In April, I started to work as fulltime engineer and I’m now an Arupian.
I wanted to be part of Arup, because there are lots of opportunities and experts – that you can’t find elsewhere. Engineering evolves with experience and Arup has some of the most impressive experience in the sector.
“With all the potential Arup has, I believe that there is a bright future in Arup for all junior engineers such as myself. ”
What does your day to day role involve?
Working for the infrastructure team always comes with different job opportunities, one day I am planning car parks or roads for city sized masterplans and in another day I am studying track alignment options for HS2. Obviously, my future in Arup has lots of different working areas. If I have to categorize what my day to day role involves, it would be transport engineering with all its aspects.
What has been your most enjoyable moment / project at Arup so far?
Having the privilege of working for HS2 is/was the most enjoyable project for me. Being a member of Arup+ and working with all the engineers across the globe boost my willing to shape a better world.
What are your future aspirations?
I am looking forward to enhancing my engineering skills in Arup. With all the potential Arup has, I believe that there is a bright future in Arup for all junior engineers such as myself.
Arup offers lots of opportunities to grab and make use of them for our and the company’s future. I hope that in the future I will be one of the transport engineers at Arup, also improving my Lindy Hop dancing skills in my future schedule!
