2021 Joined Arup
After interning with Arup, what helped you make the decision to join full time?
While I was interning with Arup, I found it very interesting that I was part of an all women team on one of my projects! For a woman in engineering, entering a male-dominated industry for the first time can feel very intimidating. Yet, during my internship, all those worries went away. I knew right after my internship; Arup is where I wanted to be.
In one summer, I got exposure to a project in aviation, a campus for an international pharmaceutical company and to work with one of New York City’s agencies. As someone still learning about their interests and passions in the industry, I was pleased to know that the possible projects for new graduates were limitless, and that Arup had many opportunities I could explore.
What is your favorite part of being in Arupian?
When I was in college, we learned a lot about the social responsibility that comes with being a designer and engineer. My favorite part about being an Arupian is being able to upkeep these values where I work! There’s no better job for me than following a mission to “shape a better world” for our clients and the communities in which we work.

How has Arup’s culture shaped your experience entering the workforce?
I loved starting my career at Arup! The people and culture make it so easy to ask questions and quickly grow. As we all sit together by discipline, and not by grade level, you are always surrounded by your team to learn from them. Everyone is very willing to share their expertise with you. When I started at Arup, I was immediately brought into client meetings and bigger tasks, and in the short term I learned so much!
Do you have a favorite Arup memory? A project site visit, office event, etc.?
The Advisory team had an off-site visit to Miami! We had the opportunity to meet the other offices in our disciplines, that we usually would not have the chance to cross paths with otherwise. We even had the Mayor of Miami Beach stop by and speak about Miami Beach’s sustainability goals for the upcoming years.
How has Arup's sustainability goals made an impact on your projects and/or day to day life?
I am so happy to be involved in conversations on how to positively impact the city I love the most – New York! Some of the projects I have worked on include non-profit organizations focusing on equality, recreation centers, and public spaces.
