Matthew Ciborowski

Associate, Americas East Cities Planning and Design Services Co-Leader

Matthew Ciborowski is an Associate and Americas East Cities Planning and Design Services Co-Leader with a focus on Transportation Planning and Urban Design. Having joined Arup in 2017, he has more than twelve years of experience in the public and private sectors. Matthew’s work has centered on improvements to mobility networks through major capital investments, policy development, and customer-focused technology upgrades. He has extensive experience in service planning, alternatives analysis, economic development, environmental review, emerging mobility, demand management, and the integration of planning and design services.

Through projects with Arup and at multiple public agencies, Matthew has advised executive suite, agency leaders, and elected officials in dozens of locations. His key areas of focus include fare and pricing policy, route design, passenger facility design, transit micro-investments, the integration of emerging technologies into existing networks, the interface between planning and engineering, bridging the gap between government regimes, and public-private partnership financing strategy. Matthew has been integral to several city- and regional-scale projects that better the built environment, including the MBTA’s Bus Network Redesign, MassDOT’s Allston I-90 Interchange, the City of Boston’s PLAN: Downtown, the Bay Area’s Link21, and Canada’s High Frequency Rail.
